About Us

The provision of care and support is changing radically; in 2007 the Government announced the introduction of personal budgets. In November 2010 its Vision for Adult Social Care the Government reiterated its commitment to personalisation and said that personal budgets should be provided to all eligible people by 2013.

These changes impact specifically on those who have services provided by or funded by the local authority, but the issues surrounding the difficulty of purchasing your own care are support exist for both funded individuals and those who pay for their own care and support.

You're the Boss was created by Nichola Goom and Chloe Carey to help address some of the issues that are there for people who need care and support and people who provide care and support.

History

In 2010 Nichola, who has worked in the care and support sector for the last ten years, approached Chloe with a vision of providing a resource for individuals who provide care and support. This vision developed and refined to become an online resource for both those providing and requiring care and support.

The two years since the first idea have been spent business planning; setting up the company; raising finance; market analysis and testing; developing the specification for the website; and writing and developing phase one of the website.

Running alongside the limited company is a Community Interest Company (CIC) which promotes the free resources available on the site, will run community events & subsidised care training and, when the company starts to generate a profit, will receive a profit share from the company to further develop these aims. 

Vision for the Future

This current website is just phase one, it provides lots of free information to anyone who needs and care support or provides care and support. Much of the information is available to the public, some of the information requires individuals to become registered users, free of charge.

Phase Two - will bring additional content and functionality.  It will provide a one stop shop containing all of the resources that service users and people who provide care and support will need to operate in a personalised environment.   This will include policies and procedures, recruitment support, timesheets, accounts and marketing tools.  This will be the subscription part of the site.
