Who supports the paid carers? ... we do....

Posted on 10/09/2012

There are 1.5 million people who are paid to provide care, yet according to an article written by Nick Johnson of the Social Care Association in the Guardian last week, the white paper plays 'scant attention' to the paid care workers. He emphasises the importance of paid and unpaid carers and the need to support those carrying out this vital role.

It is concerning that this significant issue was not properly addressed in the Care and Support White Paper; the proper support, as well as the proper regulation will be fundamental in ensuring that those most vulnerable in society, get the personalised care and support they need.

It seems that You're the Boss was launched at just the right time, providing information, tools and resources for people who provide care and support as well as those who need care and support.

If you or someone you know currently provides care or wants to provide care, then have a look at our pages on how to set up your care business; tools for providing care and support through to employment rights.  Or work out what you might earn and which business model might be best for you if you're being paid to provide care with our Salary Wizard
